E-Tech : Education and Technology Program

E-tech strives to provide the knowledge base and resources to better assist children and youth in reaching their full educational potential. E-Tech's philosophy is that every child receiving foster care services should have access to a computer within his/her home environment. E-tech, through the SCFPA, will provide new computers to eligible foster parents based on priority of need and the limitations of the annual budget.

Eligibility Guidelines for receiving a computer through SCFPA and the E-Tech program.

      A DSS foster family must:
  1. Be in good standing with DSS licensing unit and recommended for the program by licensing unit;
  2. Have a child or youth in grade K or above (ages 5 to 21) receiving foster care services and living in the home*
    or have an adopted child who was in foster care in their home
    or have adopted within the last 2 years and plans to continue fostering;
  3. Apply for the computer by completing the written application;
  4. Agree to return the computer if they decide not to foster within one year of signing application agreement
    or if all eligible children leave their home;
  5. Be willing to accept total responsibility for the computer at the end of one year;
  6. Wait 5 years after receiving a computer before they can apply for another computer, provided funding is available to continue the program.
      * If a child in foster care is attending college and needs a computer, contact your independent living coordinator.

Instructions:

  • The application must be complete, including all signatures, when submitted.
  • You must include a street address (not a PO Box) for UPS delivery.
